Stopped in for a cocktail very pleasurable staff very friendly and attentive really neat atmosphere and cool decor and right across the street from an ice cream shop and a candy store it don't get much better than that on a Sunday are you kidding me 😎

The Texas gate has been a long standing staple in the Cochrane bar/restaurant scene, over two decades. They used to be in a different location at some point in the past 7 years took over what was the old hotel. I can't speak much to the new location as I've only stopped in once for coffee. And can't speak much to the night/weekend crowd just yet. I found the restaurant side to be a little on the small side and despite the outside having been given a bit of a makeover (at least a paint job), the inside was a bit lacking hence the removal of one star. Otherwise I'll have to go back and see what it's like another time. The hotel is above the bar and has existed since 1904 and adds a nice western touch. I've not stayed there but might give it a shot sometime.

My husband surpised me with a night away here. We have always been curious to see what it was like. Our room was beautifully done, and decorated. I was a bit worried it was going to be cold and drafty but we were cozy in our immaculate room, best sleep ever at a hotel and my new favourite place. We went down to the pub for dinner and were surprised again by the amazing food. We shared the fish tacos which were a mean in themselves before the best looking prime rib and a steak sandwhich come to our spot. Everything was beautifully seasoned and the staff were attentive.I cannot wait to come back to relax and get another marscarpone french toast for breaky! Yum

Great food, great prices, great staff and venue

A very historic building that was buult in the early 1900s I believe. It was modernized to become a pub and bar on the main floor and seems to still operate as a hotel on the upper floor.The food is your typical bar food with burgers, steak, etc. I got the half rack ribs and the portions were big and it tasted pretty good. I got it to come with the soup and it was a carrot ginger soup which was really interesting as I never had it before. This place is right beside Mackays so you can even go get icecream after!

Pretty darn close to possibly being the best burger I've ever had! Wonderfully juicy and flavorful burger with tons of options for building your own. Staff were exceptionally friendly and delivered top notch service. The owners Michelle and Mark even stopped by for a chat to see if we enjoyed our meals. Outstanding experience!! 😋 🍔 ♥

At 9:05 last night 6 of us went to the Texas gate after our curling game for a bite to eat. We were quite disappointed when the waitress told us the kitchen had just closed. She asked us to wait a moment and she spoke with her manager. They reopened the kitchen! Wow, what great customer service. The food was fantastic and the service was equally great. Will definitely return. This will be a definite restaurant choice for me when I come in from Calgary.

99% of the time it's been great but there is always that 1% that's so so. Tell them and they compensate you the best they can.

On Labor day me and my dad had the most wonderful experience as we had lunch after the parade at this beautiful venue: Amanda gave us such a warm welcome and she took such kind care of us that she made us feel like family!

Great food and even better service. Never disappointed when I come in. Usually for breakfast which is top notch if you just want a basic no frills breakfast. All the servers are so friendly and food is always quick to arrive.

Classic casual steakhouse and pub. Fun atmosphere, good service and a business clearly run by real people and not a large franchise. Food was very tasty- had the ribeye, prime rib and homemade pie- would recommend all and will be returning.

Food is surprisingly decent, and reading the menu makes your mouth water. (Lots of choices that I wants to take them up on.) Those who I have been with have enjoyed their food as well. Friendly service, but not always prompt. So far I've been when it's quiet, and it doesn't really feel like your average saloon. It's nice for dinner time.

Social distance seating, servers wearing masks. Quick service great manager tonight friendly and very accommodating. Only had beer no food as the kitchen closed just before we arrived. However the manager offered if we wanted something deep fried he could do that for us.

Be careful when the owner is drunk. You can be brutally insulted. After a complaint I made I was told by him that I was a miserable lady. No client deserves this treatment.

First time going, enjoyed the wings on Tuesday night. Great price and really kind waitress. Looking forward to going back.

The food was delicious!!! we were 3 adults and 3 kids and we were all very satisfied with the portion and taste. Very yummy!!! We all ate everything :) The service was excellent!!! Highly recommended! we'll come back for sure!

Cochrane's original and best bar. I love the history and classic wooden look. The staff is terrific, highly recommend you give it a try.

I found myself with my girlfriends going here more and more. The small town atmosphere, cheap wing nights and $1 fish tacos. My friends come from the city and spread the word to their friends. And now we just discovered the $3.99 breakfast before 10. Best of all, talking to the employees is like talking to your neighbor just down the street.

First time coming here. The service was awesome especially Jade J but the only thing I didnt enjoy was my food. I ordered the chicken pot pie and it was very greasy and to creamy for me so I barley ate it. But the rest of the meal was good. My husband didn’t like eat his chicken meal as it was to greasy and burnt, my mother in law didn’t enjoy her food either. My son on the other had enjoyed his French fries. We will be back again.
